The mortgage subsidy, vehicle allowance, and household distributions Kayla assumed were permanent could now be paused while the circumstances were examined.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla immediately pointed at her list and insisted she had only been protecting Rosie. Dennis calmly explained that reasonable health precautions were one thing; the problem was the blanket exclusion and Nathan\u2019s participation in it while relying on Earl\u2019s trust. My doctor had already confirmed that I was healthy, vaccinated, and perfectly capable of safely visiting an infant. Nobody could force Kayla to hand me her child, and I never wanted that. She apologized for speaking to me as though age itself made me dangerous. I washed my hands, sat in Earl\u2019s old chair, and held my great-granddaughter for the first time beneath the yellow blanket I had knitted. The trust review eventually ended, but some distributions remained reduced. Earl\u2019s paragraph had never been written to buy access to children.
