Grayson Wanted My House, Not My Hospitality

The documents beside Grayson’s coffee were not an eviction order or some magical piece of paper that could erase legal rights. They were simpler than that. Because Nadia and Grayson had arrived only the day before as invited guests, I was withdrawing permission for them to remain in my home. My attorney’s letter also made it clear that Grayson had absolutely no authority to represent me, manage my property, contact lenders on my behalf, or describe himself as my financial adviser.

The rest of the folder explained why I had become cautious. Public records showed failed businesses, significant unpaid debts, and a bankruptcy filing connected to one of Grayson’s ventures. More troubling were messages Nadia had accidentally left visible on the shared tablet the night before. Grayson had been discussing my house as a possible “family asset” and estimating what could be borrowed against it once I agreed to let him “handle things.”

Nadia went silent. Grayson insisted he had only been planning for my future. I asked them to pack. When he argued, I reminded him that arriving with suitcases did not turn a one-night visit into ownership.

By 7:30, they were gone.

I poured myself another coffee and finally made breakfast.

Not because anyone demanded it.

Because, for the first morning since they arrived, my house felt like mine again.
